Two ways in, depending on your school.
Signing takes a minute and needs a little context — who you are, which school, which homeroom — so that a grade can activate when eight families have signed.
If your school already has it
Sign with your join code.
Whoever told you about this can give you the code or the link — usually a Homeroom Host, the Director, or the family who invited you. It opens your school's pledge, already filled in with your school's name.
No code? Ask the parent who mentioned it, or your child's Homeroom Host. If nobody at your school has started this yet, start it below.
If nobody has started it
Four steps, and none of them need anyone's approval.
A first year is the pledge and the people who hold it — start there, and add whatever the community has appetite for as the standard takes root. It runs alongside the school rather than through it, so there is no proposal to write and no permission to get.
- 1Read the pledge, and one short page on why
About seven minutes for both. If the eight promises are ones your household already tries to keep, you have everything you need.
- 2Find two or three families who would sign it today
Not a committee. The parents who already welcome the new family and notice who got left out.
- 3Decide who holds it
One of you is the Director — the person who makes sure the pledge gets launched and the guardrails hold. A second family as Assistant Director means it never rests on one person.
- 4Open signing, and find a host per homeroom
Hosts come as class lists do, in the fall. One or two families per room to be the point of contact — helping families hear about the pledge and keeping an eye on anyone at the edges. How they lead is up to them; a gathering is welcome, never required.
